Re-usable die-cut paint masks

The set includes one sheet of pre-cut masks (shown in the picture). The masks are made from thin masking tape, which is easy to be peeled off and doesn’t leave any stains. The tape is tested on clear and painted model too. If carefully removed after painting, they can be used over and over again. It is flexible and easily applied over curved surfaces. Semi-transparent for easy and accurate placing.

Macchi C.202
was an Italian WWII fighter, developed by Macchi Aeronautica. Folgore /Thunderbolt/ is considered as one of the finest planes to fly in Royal Italian Air Force /Regia Aeronautica/ around that period. Approximately 1150 were built and the plane served up until 1951. Among its operators were Luftwaffe, Croatia Air Force and Italy’s various Air Forces /changing names/ in that age. All successful Italian Aces flew C.202 Folgore at one time or another, which is a proof of the plane’s capabilities to some extent. Folgore was developed into C.205 Veltro, which was produced in smaller numbers, but it served longer than its predecessor. To this day, Folgore remains as one of the symbols of Italy’s military aviation of WWII.

Camouflage
of the Folgore is rather typical for Italian Air Force during the Second World War. The randomness of the spots and the fact that they are hollow presents additional challenges when painting a model with free-hand techniques. This mask set covers basic outlines of the spots and can be used to replicate the pattern, but it can also serve solely as a basis for the outlines. Further on, additional free-hand airbrushing might add to the pattern, painting over the spots in order to make paint looks more disperse. That is not necessary though, since similar appearance can be re-created with various weathering techniques. This camouflage scheme is based on Italeri’s Macchi C.202 Folgore 1/32, but can be used with any other tooling of the plane, as well as with C.205 Veltro and planes with similar pattern.
