Czech Frog Su-25 Frogfoot Demo Camouflage Paint Masks Set 1/72
Suggested scale: 1/72
Suggested use: Most Single-seat 1/72 Su-25 Frogfoot kits available
The set includes two sheets of masks (shown in the picture). The masks are made from thin masking tape, which is easy to be peeled off and doesn’t leave any stains. The tape is tested on clear and painted model too. If carefully removed after painting, they can be used over and over again. It is flexible and easily applied over curved surfaces. Semitransparent for easy and accurate placing.
Su-25 Frogfoot
is a Soviet close air support and attack aircraft. It was designed in the late 70s and entered service in the early 1980s. Its NATO codename is Frogfoot, but is is better known with its Soviet/Russian name – Rook. The plane was designed as a response to the A-10 Thunderbolt II and shares a lot of similarities as a concept with the latter. The fame that the Rook gained was mostly during Soviet-Afghanistan War, where it suffered harsh hits, but managed to somehow return home with its pilots alive and safe. Later on, Su-25 participated in most major conflicts that Russia was involved in and was quite successful too. Since 1980s Frogfoot served in many local war zones as well, some in the Middle East and Africa, utilized by other Air Forces.
Czech Frog
was a demo camouflage applied on a Su-25K in Czechoslovakia in the early 1990s. The plane was painted in light gray, with yellow over the nose, the wings and the nacelles. Spots of different colors are spread over the airplane, mostly on its nose, but also covering the upper surfaces of the fighter-bomber. On the vertical stab, there is a frog holding a tank & a hammer, which gave the name of the demo scheme. This Su-25 was with bort number 9013 – S/N 25508109013. It was famous around airshows in Europe and is preserved to this day, although in significantly deteriorated condition.
DN Models
mask set features masks for the spots. None of the insignia or the tail art is included. Those cannot be replicated through masking, due to the small size in 1/72. This DN Models’ mask set can be used with any tooling of the single seat Su-25 Frogfoot and due to spots’ relative randomness does not require specific model to fit accurately. Wonderful reference for the paint scheme and suggested colors can be found in Eduard’s Limited Edition kit #11176 “Hrabe”. Eduard kit is in 48th scale, but for guidance will work perfectly.
