Interior and exterior included
The set includes one sheet of masks (shown in the picture). The masks are made from thin masking tape, which is easy to be peeled off and doesn’t leave any stains. The tape is tested on clear and painted model too. If carefully removed after painting, they can be used over and over again. It is flexible and easily applied over curved surfaces. Semitransparent for easy and accurate placing.
Mi-8 / Mi-17
Hip helicopters are two variations based on the initial airframe, Mi-8. The most noticeable difference between the two is the orientation of the tail rotor. Mil Mi-8 is a twin-engine, fixed gear utility helicopter, most commonly used as a Transport helicopter, but also as a Command, SAR, Gunship, Reconnaissance and VIP platform. It is the most produced helicopter in the World /together with Mi-17/ with more than 17 000 made since 1960s. The production continues today. Mil Mi-8/17 is exported to more than 80 countries and currently is third most commonly used military aircraft on the planet. The Hip is also the basis of the Mi-24 Hind attack helicopter.
DN Models’ set
is designed for Zvezda Mi-8MT, #4828. It is the very first of the upcoming Zvezda series based on the Hip helicopter. Mi-8MT is a version of the Mi-17, not the original Mi-8. Although in different sources the designation -8MT is valid for the initial airframe, the kit features a helo with tail rotor positioned on the left side, which is typical for the Mi-17. Zvezda helicopter kits became famous with their 1/72 Mi-24, which won several awards for Best Kit around the World. That was extended to its 48th scale version, which later was developed into a new tooling featuring the Hip. Although there are competitive kits from other manufacturers, Zvezda’s scale model is considered as the most reliable representation of the Mil helicopter, due to the serious leap forward the company made in the intricate detailing and riveting. The mask set is covering the exterior and the interior of the clear parts of the Mi-8MT kit, as well as the wheels.
