Semi-transparent for easy and accurate placing.
Horten Ho 229
was a German flying wing jet aircraft, developed during the second half of WWII by Reimar and Walter Horten. It was one of the many projects, designed to answer Hermann Goring’s “3×1000” requirement. 3 x 1000 was – a plane that could fly 1000km, carrying 1000kg of bombs with 1000km/h speed. Since only jet powered aircraft could do that, the results designers came up were quite often ahead of their time. Among the many, Horten’s flying wing was probably the most advanced and futuristic looking. The initial version was a single-seat plane, but later on it was decided that the true power of the project lies within night missions and two seat option was developed. That remained only on the drawing board and partially assembled frame sections.
Ho 229B
Had two men crew. A pilot and a radar operator, working in the back seat. Due to limited space, the crew was in tandem arrangement. The project was very promising and it would’ve been a big game changer if the war didn’t end before it was completed and tested. Nevertheless, Ho 229B remains one of the most significant ideas of its time. Takom made 32nd scale representation of Horten Ho 229A and Ho 229B. At the time of this release, Takom is the only company that makes Ho229B in that scale. This mask set covers the B version only.
