F-16A Top Aces Aggressor /Netz ex-IAF/ Camo Paint Masks Set 1/48

    Suggested scale: 1/48

Suggested use: F-16A kits in 48th scale

The set includes two sheets of masks (shown in the picture). The masks are made from thin masking tape, which is easy to be peeled off and doesn’t leave any stains. The tape is tested on clear and painted model too. If carefully removed after painting, they can be used over and over again. It is flexible and easily applied over curved surfaces. Semitransparent for easy and accurate placing.

    F-16A
is the initial variant of the Fighting Falcon/Viper single engine jet fighter. Among the first customers of the F-16A was the Israeli Air Force. Their F-16s featured specific desert camouflage, unique for Israeli planes. They were called Netz /Hawk/. Those planes had plenty of real-life experience while serving in IAF. Since the early 80s, F-16As were used on multiple occasions, downing numerous MiG and Sukhoi planes as well as completing daring missions that necessitated extreme performance and accuracy. One such mission is Operation Opera, which is loosely described in the 1980s movie Iron Eagle II. F-16As can be seen in it, as well as in the first part of the series – Iron Eagle. After retirement with the IAF, F-16As were bought by Top Aces and converted to Aggressors.

    Top Aces
camouflage is similar to the Israeli F-16A Netz, but features private company’s Aggressor insignia. That includes red stars, Russian letters on the tail fin as well as Top Aces logo on the vertical stabilizer. FAA registration numbers for three planes are included. Those are N854TA, N857TA and N860TA. Large Number 220 for the intake is included and can be seen on one of the planes. Smaller intake numbers are not included. The original IAF F-16A Netz can also be painted with this camouflage, however, some of the Israeli planes featured variations, thus careful research is required. Top Aces Red Stars are painted on the place of IAF stars, which were placed on the middle section of the wings. Top Aces Aggressor F-16s also feature insignia only on the upper part of the plane and on the vertical stabilizer. The planes are plain grey on the underside with the exclusion of number 220 seen on one plane only. This DN Models Mask Set is based on Tamiya’s brilliant tooling and should be adequate for any quarter scale F-16A on the market.
