Re-usable die-cut paint masks
The set includes three sheets of pre-cut masks (shown in the picture). The masks are made from thin masking tape, which is easy to be peeled off and doesn’t leave any stains. The tape is tested on clear and painted model too. If carefully removed after painting, they can be used over and over again. It is flexible and easily applied over curved surfaces. Semi-transparent for easy and accurate placing.
F-4B
was one of the initial versions of the McDonnell Douglas Phantom II. It was made in more than 600 copies which makes it among the most produced variants of the Flying Anvil. It served in the US NAVY and US Marines and gained its fame in the skies over Vietnam. Most US warplanes at that time were painted in high-visibility camouflages and insignia. Phantoms used on aircraft carriers were covered in very light gray tones, which, combined with the red, white and blue insignia of the stars made them very distinctive. That was made even more vivid by applying various squadrons’ specific insignia over the tail fin, back and nose, making them look like an airshow painted planes, not war machines.
Sundowners CAG
F-4B Phantom featured slightly different insignia compared to the regular Sundowners planes. Its vertical stabilizer was painted with one of the rays being multi-colored. This goes for F-4B number 200, being the Sundowners CAG. The paint scheme is more demanding, however is more vivid compared to the original VF-111 red and white tail fin appearance. CAG plane is often featured in various kits and re-boxing. This specific mask set is designed to fit Tamiya and Academy F-4Bs. Other kits might be suitable as well, however the dimensions of the masks are tailored for the two kits explicitly mentioned above. Compared to the standard Sundowners F-4B insignia, the “200” features different shark mouth and large “1000” number on the empennage. Some other differences are the wingtips and the nose gear bay door being painted in white and red.
